Privacy Policy
Effective October 3, 2026 · Rack Retriever is made by 3351 Labs.
The short version: Rack Retriever doesn't collect, see or sell your data. Your inventory and your label photos stay on your device.
Your inventory and photos
Everything you enter, such as device names, serial numbers, MAC addresses, prices, orders, locations, notes and photos of labels, is stored only on your device. On iPhone, iPad and Android it lives in the app's own storage. On the web it lives in your browser's storage. It's never sent to 3351 Labs or anyone else. There are no accounts, and we have no server that holds your data.
Your device's own backup may include the app's storage if you've turned that backup on. On iPhone and iPad that's an iCloud or computer backup under your Apple Account. On Android it's Android's backup under your Google Account. Apple or Google handles those backups, and 3351 Labs can't read them.
Backups and spreadsheet exports you make are files that go wherever you choose to save or send them.
The camera and label photos
When you scan a barcode or take a photo of a label, the text is read on your device by the text and barcode reader built into the system: Apple's Vision and VisionKit on iPhone and iPad, and Google's ML Kit on Android, whose models are included in the app. The photo isn't sent anywhere to be read. If you choose to keep a photo with an item, it's stored with your inventory on your device, as described above.
In a web browser, the camera scanner loads a barcode-reading library from the jsDelivr network the first time you use it. Your camera image stays in your browser.
Looking up a MAC address's maker
When you type a MAC address, Rack Retriever suggests the maker from a list built into the app. If that list doesn't know the address and you're online, the app asks a public lookup service (maclookup.app, or macvendors.com if the first doesn't answer) for the maker of just the first six characters, which identify the manufacturer and not the device. The rest of the address, and nothing else from your inventory, is sent. The answer is remembered on your device so it isn't asked again. Those services receive your IP address when they're asked, as any website does.
Purchases
The Home, Pro and Unlimited plans are sold through the App Store on iPhone and iPad, and through Google Play on Android. Apple or Google handles payment, and we receive only what they provide to developers, such as sales totals and whether a subscription is active. We never see your payment details. Apple's and Google's privacy policies cover that process.
Analytics, ads and tracking
None. Rack Retriever has no analytics, no advertising and no tracking, and it doesn't share data with third parties.
The websites
rackretriever.com and the web version at rackretriever.app are hosted by Cloudflare, which may keep standard server logs (such as IP addresses) for security and reliability. The web pages load their fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when the fonts are downloaded. The iPhone, iPad and Android apps include their fonts and don't contact Google Fonts.
Children
Rack Retriever isn't directed at children and doesn't knowingly collect information from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date.
